Autoportraits

I was invited by Mercedes-Benz to visit its museum in Stuttgart and consider whether it would be possible to produce new Autoportraits (2001) by selecting models from the museum’s 125-year-old collection. After several visits, I was given access to the entire museum for two nights, together with my crew, in order to create these new Autoportraits. Once again, this work has no connection to the rest of my artistic production, yet the joy of making it was the same as it had been ten years earlier.
